Demand for Texas Company Drivers May be at an All-Time High
The Wall Street Journal recently ran a story titled “Trucking Companies Are Struggling to Attract Drivers to the Big-Rig Life.” To those of us in Trucking, this isn’t news. Trucking companies have been struggled to keep their trucks filled for years, each one promising the best truck driving jobs, and Texas motor carriers are no different. From OTR trucking jobs to local runs based in Texas, there’s always been fierce competition for drivers.
What may be different now is how much the pipeline of new truck drivers has dried up. Commercial driving school enrollment hasn’t been this low in 15 years. And with a strong economy and lots of freight, companies are offering more home time, bigger sign-on bonuses, and in some cases, higher pay.
Still, the number of truck drivers can’t match the need in today’s freight market. Even in a big state like Texas, there are more great truck driving jobs than there are qualified Class A CDL holders.
If you know a CDL holder looking for the best company driver jobs in Texas, be sure to tell them about our site - TruckDrivingJobsTexas.com, where filling out one form puts you in touch with the best trucking companies in Texas.
